In 2026, Dylan Hunter Returns…in BLIND EYE

Many friends are aware of the personal reasons for my very long hiatus in writing and publishing more Dylan Hunter thrillers. Rather than try to explain the challenges of the past, I’m sure most of you are far more interested in what I will do with the series in the future.

I’m pleased to report that I’ve been making significant progress on Dylan Hunter #4: BLIND EYE. It’s a prequel story: a thriller that deals with the year prior to the opening events of HUNTER — the period when Matt Malone arrives back in Washington, DC, with a new face and a new alias, aiming to launch a peaceful new life as a freelance journalist. But, as you might expect, things don’t go according to plan; in fact, he can’t seem to escape his violent past.

I’ve had great fun plotting this tale. New series readers who encounter our hero for the first time will learn a lot of intriguing background that will, I hope, addict them to the Dylan Hunter series. Meanwhile, past readers of the first three novels will notice how BLIND EYE sneakily plants all sorts of backstory seeds that will sprout in HUNTER, BAD DEEDS, and WINNER TAKES ALL.

What alias was our hero using when he first arrived in DC — and why? How did his plans for an smooth transition into journalism quickly veer so dangerously off the rails? What was his romantic life like before Annie Woods? How did he first meet Wonk? How did he acquire Luna? Why did he need to amass a fleet of vehicles, several residences, and a small armory of weapons? And how did he finally settle on the “Dylan Hunter” name?

All this and more will be revealed in BLIND EYE. Like the other novels, it’s an action-packed vigilante thriller filled with spies, mystery, high stakes, romance, shocking plot twists…and fresh revelations about the evolution of Dylan Hunter.

For much of the past decade, my own life has been filled with its own unexpected, jarring plot twists. They’ve become so routinely disruptive that I hesitate to set a firm publication date for the new novel. But barring any more unforeseen crises, I have every intention of publishing it during the first half of 2026. In the meantime — with the assistance of ChatGPT’s AI Image Generator, I’ve created this idea for the novel’s cover. You can let me know if you like it.

Thanks for honoring me with years of patient waiting.
